Cardiac Rehabilitation

The cardiac rehab program at Palo Pinto General Hospital (PPGH) is an exercise and education program supporting individuals recovering from a recent cardiac event or hospitalization.

The goal of the cardiac rehabilitation program is to assist you in developing a healthy lifestyle plan. Your plan will include major components of supervised exercise training; ECG monitoring; a daily vitals check; and education and lifestyle counseling tailored to your specific needs, age and goals.

Our cardiac rehab program helps boost health and well-being after a heart attack or other cardiac event. The benefits include:

What To Expect During Cardiac Rehab

Patients typically spend six to 12 weeks in cardiac rehab, attending three sessions per week. During that time, you’ll work with a highly skilled and compassionate exercise physiologist dedicated to helping you safely achieve your health goals.

Our American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR)-certified facility features fitness equipment, including weights, treadmills, stationary bikes and elliptical machines.

We pride ourselves on providing extensive patient education. You’ll learn about diet, lifestyle habits and even mental health, in addition to physical fitness. It’s everything you need to recover fully and get back to your life.

You will receive patient education on lifestyle modification:

  • Blood pressure management.
  • Cholesterol management.
  • Cardiac medication education.
  • Heart healthy nutrition recommendations.
  • Tobacco cessation.
  • Diabetes management support.
  • Weight management.
